AI Vocabulary
A few terms that come up constantly once an AI tool is part of the process, whether that's an image generator, a chat assistant, or Buddy. Plain-language versions, not the jargon-first kind. None of them are complicated once someone actually explains what they mean.
- LLM
- Large language model. What Claude and similar chat AIs actually are.
- Token
- A chunk of text, roughly three-quarters of a word. Usage and context limits are measured in tokens.
- Context window
- How much conversation and file content a model can hold in view at once.
- Hallucination
- A confident, fluent, wrong answer. Verify anything stated as fact before building on it.
- Prompt injection
- Hidden instructions smuggled into content an AI reads, trying to hijack what it does next.
- Agent
- An AI that takes actions with tools (files, commands, searches), not just replies with text.
- Seed
- The number that locks a specific random result for an image model. Same prompt plus same seed gives the same image.
- Inpainting / img2img
- Regenerate just a masked region of an image, or use an existing image as the starting point.
