DIY Biochar Retort (Drum-in-Drum)
A retort made from a smaller steel drum nested in a larger one, which cooks wood into charcoal without oxygen and burns off the wood gas.
Status
The method is real oxygen-limited pyrolysis. The pin lacks a safety section, so the cautions below are added: burn and smoke safety, steel-only drums, untreated wood, and safe quenching.
