Built to Last

One of these is two thousand years old. The other one already has a crack in it.

Coloring page: Built to Last, starring Solid Smeaton

Smeaton's own line: the Pantheon is two thousand years old, and Roman concrete actually gets stronger over time, not weaker. Building something that lasts means thinking about who uses it after you're gone, not just whether it works today.

Color in Smeaton, the old stone dome, and the cracked block. Why do you think one of them is still standing?

About Solid Smeaton

Started out just wanting to know why the Pantheon was still standing after two thousand years while modern parking garages fall apart in decades. Found the real answer in pozzolanic ash, seawater chemistry, and a crystalline structure that actually grows stronger over time instead of degrading. The toga and laurel wreath came later — the obsession with the real chemistry underneath was there from day one.
