Charge It First
Burnt wood straight out of the fire isn't food for your garden yet. Not until it's charged.
Carver's rule: raw biochar will actually pull nutrients out of your soil instead of feeding it. Soak it in compost or nutrients first — charge it — before it ever touches a garden bed.
