Morris's second paint: egg tempera. Mix an egg yolk with water and a real earth pigment — the same iron oxide that gives colored dirt and rock its color — and you've got real, lasting paint. Different binder than her cheese-based casein paint, same idea: real color doesn't have to come from a hardware store can.
