What's Actually Holding It Up

It looks like solid stone. The real strength is the concrete block hiding inside it.

Smeaton's second rule: the outside doesn't have to be what's doing the work. A stone-faced column looks built entirely of heavy stone, but a concrete block core is what's actually carrying the load underneath the veneer.

About Solid Smeaton

Started out just wanting to know why the Pantheon was still standing after two thousand years while modern parking garages fall apart in decades. Found the real answer in pozzolanic ash, seawater chemistry, and a crystalline structure that actually grows stronger over time instead of degrading. The toga and laurel wreath came later — the obsession with the real chemistry underneath was there from day one.
