Welding Helmets
Miller Welding Helmets ($400+ tier)
Professional/daily-use tier — larger viewing area, faster/more consistent switching, headgear comfort for all-day use.
Miller is an established top-tier professional welding manufacturer — genuine differences for someone welding for a living, but diminishing returns for hobby/occasional use. Same eye-safety baseline as the budget tier; the money buys comfort and consistency, not core protection.
Never use a fixed-shade helmet bundled with an ultra-cheap welder — it forces lifting the helmet to see your work before striking the arc, a real workflow/safety problem. A scratched outer lens cover is often the real cause of poor visibility, not the helmet itself — cheap to replace before assuming you need a new helmet.
Reference only — not a near-term buy.
